As it cam up today, most yaesu radios follow this method for serialisation
If Serial is YMxxxxxx
Y is the last digit of the year,
M is the month starting with C ( C = Jan )
So 7Lxxxxxx on a newer radio would be OCT 2007 or there abouts
So 8Dxxxxxx on a newer radio would be FEB 2008 or there abouts
Not this is the manufacturing date, not the sale date and between shipping, customs, warehouse then sale the radios could easilly be in the supply chain for 2~4 months depending on mode of transport (air or sea)
