Hi all
For those that prefer antennas to radio construction the multi band vertical needs some attention.
All bands are resonanat at higher frequenceies than they should be. So volunteers to take on that job would be appreciated.

Can I reccomend that the club buys a can of "Aluminium Antigrippant" from AA components. Not cheap, either £16 or £18 for a large aerosol can - but worth its weight in gold.
Spray onto aluminium mating surfaces BEFORE assembly. reduces aluminium corrosion (that white powdery stuff) by many thousands of percent.
Works like copper-grease on steel -- which of course you would never use on aluminium.
I used nearly a full tin on my Optibeam 9-5, not only every aluminium mating surface but also stainless steel as well -- helps stop S/S galling too).
These days my weekends are busier than when I was working!! otherwise I would be there.

Peter

Managed to have a look at the vertical today and found an intermitant open circut in one of the traps
40 meters is still a bit high in resonance but the others are now ok
Thanks to Gerry and Rab for there help.
