Thought this might be of interest for a play on top band, nothing heavy, 3 hours, top band only, would be nice to see who would be interested.

Its single band so single TX.

This might suit the "rag chewers" inside us a bit better than the 5914's :D

John,

I'd spotted this a couple of weeks ago but count me in for this. I'm still having trouble engaging in any conversation longer than about 5 seconds with anyone after CQWW:thum

Well

A lot more interest than I thought.

Enough to say its a go IMO

But no burgers, sausage, bacon or other evil meat ;-))

Good old veggie time I think :geek so we will keep the sustanance a suprise :chee

As its one band of operation, than only a single TX needs setup, but we should tweak the vertical for mid band used

One radio, well you only need one if its an ICOM ...... (he waits for a few :pira)

Hello fellas,

here are the results from Saturday night's topband RSGB club calls contest:

we started at 20:30 instead of 20:00 due to logging problems so only competed for 2 1/2 hours not 3.

64 QSOs in total
QSOed 17 different RSGB affiliated clubs
2 Scottish QSOs only - 1 of which was Peter GM8GAX (thanks)
in the last hour we rattled off 40 QSOs once Iain had bagsied a spot for us on 1880 KHz.

Total points 847
Pretty respectable for a first time crack. To put it into context the winners will be 100+ QSOs. Still, a good laugh and well worth doing again and again. Good to get GM6NX out there and with 30 mins more and silkier skills in time we'll be up there.

Hope the H1N1 carriers are now fit and healthy ;-):puke

If anyone's really keen to see the log then let me know - I have a cabrillo file here ready to submit.

taa.
jonathan

PS. Thanks to the handfull of supporters who helped and operated.:thum

Thanks Peter. Was good fun and not a bad effort for the first time. I'm amazed how we only got 49 QSOs though. I'm sure we made 60+ but I'll check the submitted log tomorrow when I get to work.
Can't find any reference to what the column headers mean after QSOs ? NC etc ?
Shame the 80m CC last wednesday didn't go as well but we'll put it down to the low 80m dipole ;-)
